DENTON RESIDENTS TO RALLY AGAINST PROPOSED GAS WELL AT RAYZOR RANCH
Our Park, Hospital, and Neighborhood are Threatened!
Come to the public rally and speak out against the Natural Gas Well across from McKenna Park proposal! The Denton City Council will vote on the gas well on Tuesday August 4, so we must take action now!
Rayzor Investments, Inc. have found natural gas underneath their property’s surface, granting them ownership of the minerals. While there are 5 proposed drilling locations on the Rayzor Ranch property, Range Production Co., the natural gas drilling company, has chosen the location that is the most undeveloped on the Rayzor Ranch lot, but the location that would cause the most problems.
The current proposed location would establish a drilling excursion directly across the street from a public park, a neighborhood, and just away from doctors offices and a retirement home.
Drilling at that location could cause many problems including poisoning the soil and groundwater supply where citizens currently have personal water wells, releasing toxic gases right across from a public park, loud noise during the night from the drilling rig, loud noise during the night from the 18 wheelers, and constant light pollution every night.
Other repercussions would include the use of 1.2 to 3.5 million gallons of public water to operate the machinery, potential congestion during catastrophic events of the 18 wheelers transporting toxic waste, reduction in land and home property values, and possible damages to nearby structures from vibrations because of the drilling.
The reason why Range Production Co. chose the most dangerous and problematic location to drill is unclear, but it seems like they have no regard for human consequences. The Denton City Council is hesitant to refuse the special use permit to Range Production for fear of litigation. The citizens of Denton are not hesitant, and need this permit to be voted down.
The public rally will be Thursday July 30th, 6:00pm at McKenna Park, at Scripture St. and N. Bonnie Brae St. Concerned citizens of Denton will speak out against this potential atrocity, and come together in unity.

Thanks for posting about this. Maybe if the city council came out and took a tour of your neck of the woods they'd have a better idea of why it is so important to stop it.
