Gas Execs Call for Disclosure of Chemicals Used in Hydraulic Fracturing
by Abrahm Lustgarten, ProPublica – October 2, 2009 2:58 pm EDT
They are not talking about FULL DISCLOSURE. Just notice in the article how trying to pin them down on the extent of disclosure is like nailing Jello to a tree.
What’s going on here is what Gwen Lachelt, director of the Oil and Gas Accountability Project said: “Horsetrading.”
“There is a lot of horse trading going on right now,” Lachelt said. “I don’t think it’s any coincidence that we are hearing from companies about their willingness to disclose and the timing of this letter from the senators.
Industry’s eagerness to share a “limited” amount of information about the fracking chemicals comes a day after this:
The day before the two executives spoke in Connecticut, a bipartisan group of senators urged their colleagues to include a study of the environmental impacts of fracturing in the energy and climate bill being considered by Congress.

Horsetrading is BS. We need complete disclosure. Anything less will be no more that what the O&G companies want. The only way for a politician to deal with O&G is to sit and listen with great interest. They when they tell you this is the most important thing to them——–then, go do just the OPPOSITE! That would be a good WP.
