Devon Energy has not vented or flared a well in the Barnett Shale for 3 or 4 years according to a Star-Telegram article about green completions.
Several months ago, Chesapeake Energy was telling my friend–who fell for it–that they had to flare and blah, blah, blah… However, the airport did not allow Chesapeake to flare any wells AT ALL. so I wonder how they got buy without flaring in that case.
Must be that Chesapeake just isn’t as good an operator as Devon or maybe they don’t give a large rodent’s behind about our air quality.

Don't forget Rule #1: Never believe anything gas drillers say. Devon is just as bad as Chesapeake in my book. Their rep, Gilbert Horton, was the driving force in crafting an industry-friendly drilling ordinance in FW back in '05.
