DOT proposes fine for Williams following rural Virginia accident
A gas pipeline ruptured causing 15 injuries, 23 families had to be evacuated and 2 homes were destroyed.
The USDOT is issuing a probable violation and possible civil penalty. They could be fined $952,500. It seems the department’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) investigation determined that Williams failed to maintain their pipeline properly.
…possible failures by Williams-Transco to address regulatory requirements for monitoring and preventing external corrosion.
PHMSA imposed some additional stiff restrictions and corrective actions on Williams.

Uhmm…yes, it was obviously a gas pipeline. If you have gas wells, you will also have gas pipelines. In addition, Williams wants to install pipelines to transport drilling waste.

Hello, where is the link to the story. And I think we are talking about a "Gas Pipeline". Of which Williams owns thousands, and thousands of miles of pipe. Where is the rest of the story?

You signed the leases, you live with the consequences, just don't drag every one else in Flower Mound down with you. Some of us would like our fire professionals to not have to deal with one more threat to public safety.
It's not the first time a gas pipe has caught fire, probably won't be the last either. Life is risky, you take a risk every day when you get into your car and take off. Doesn't mean just because there are car wrecks and people are killed that we should stop driving cars. Just try to be careful. And Williams might be the devil to you, but to thousands and thousands of lease holders and share holders they are angels sent by god.
Miss point much, Chris? The point is that Williams was negligent in maintaining their pipelines and people got hurt. It doesn't matter what KIND of pipeline because they all will do damage. But I see that you simply do not care about anything but the money.
What do Shiloh Chris and Pat Robinson have in common? They both can justify anything by bring God (should be capitiized Chris) into the picture. Maybe when God and Williams makes you rich you can move your happy ass to Highland Park and you will not have to deal with the rest of us cancer stricken heathens.
Miss Sharon, the case is still open, and if it doesn't matter what kind of pipeline is involved then why are you not out crusading against the evil empire "the Town of Flower Mound" for having water pipelines, and sewer lines. Holly crap they are all going to fail and people are going to be flooded, wasting water, untreated sewage running unabated through the streets and neighborhoods. Note the low CP levels in 2003 & 2006. They can show coating damage, something that needs immediate action by a pipeline.
You know Anonymous once history is recorded it is history. It is really hard to take it back documented statements and threats that are recorded. That is why I find it better to let unstable people ramble because then you will all hear the propoganda and when it is politically correct to change their stance their word will come back to haunt them.

A failing anode bed can also cause low Cathodic Protection (CP) readings, so it should be a high priority of pipelines to check out the reasons they have low CP readings.
Ignoring this is like ignoring knock sounds on your car/truck motor. It may be a minor problem, but it may be also about to fail catastrophically!
