Why so many of these explosions lately? Equipment failure, different chemicals, untrained workers?
TXsharon says
There are more explosions lately for the same reason there are more instances of polluted water and air: domestic drilling agenda has exploded ('scuse the pun) for the "bridge fuel."

" "…We're seeing a disproportionate number of accidents at refineries, and they're quite serious in many cases," (The CSB's Daniel) Horowitz said.
He said a number of recent accidents have stemmed from "mechanical integrity" problems, such as failure of piping, equipment or valves. "
Cutting corners on maintenance spending, plain & simple.
