If I understand properly, this is not too far from the Carrizo-Wilcox formation and aquifer (which does stretch over many counties) and is the source for drinking water for numerous cities such as Tyler and Lufkin. Further north I think it provides for Bryan and College Station. While contamination may not be an overriding concern for those users due to the drilling activities being concentrated to the southwest, the amount of water used in gas drilling should be noted. And it can not be consumed for ever after! Drilling practices affect everyone even if it isn't in our own backyards. Drill right or don't drill!
