Lookie, lookie! It’s Glibow Oilfield Services. Now, where have I heard that name before? There were no serious injuries. I wish the injured workers well. They have an incredibly hard job and some of those people are the best folks you will ever meet.
TANK BATTERY EXPLOSION – Two men were injured, and one was taken to a Denton hospital yesterday following an explosion at a tank battery in northern Wise County. The explosion occurred at a well site owned by Gilbow Oilfield Services off Farm Road 455 about four miles west of Farm Road 51 around 12:30. Firefighters from Greenwood/Slidell and Sanger fire departments arrived on the scene to find the tank crumpled and burned. The blast had moved the massive metal tank several yards and sent several men flying through the air. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. The person taken to the hospital suffered first and/or second degree burns. Investigators said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. He was welding when the explosion occurred, and Greenwood/Slidell VFD Chief Adam North said it appears that the electric welding arc ignited fumes, blowing up the canister. Except Jim Gilbow himself. He treats his employees like crap, and if they don't do exactly what he or his strongman Billy Boy wants, they wind up cleaning out frac tanks without protective gear.

"The fact that none of the almost 15,000 drill sites in the Barnett Shale have blown up… has proven irrelevant."
Uhhh – oops?

LeBlanc is not paying attention. There have been LOTS of explosions in the BS. I have witnessed 2 from lightning strikes.

As these tanks are put closer and closer to houses, when the tanks blow up and damages property and/or hurts/kills the residence, who will be held accountable? The operator or the mineral owner?

Personally, I'll go after all of 'em – the Operator, the mineral rights owners, the City of Arlington, all the council members and the P&Z – everybody.

Palo Pinto anyone? Telesis Ritchie 37 well # 2, December 16, 2005. A half acre crater (60 feet deep) was opened up, boulders the size of pick ups were thrown out, flames burned through cracks in the earth near the highway miles away. The blast was heard for miles, the glow could be seen 100 miles away in Arlington. Had this happened at the proposed site behind my home, most of my neighborhood would be gone, my home would have been at the bottom of the crater. Go to the internet and use some of the multitude of search engines, you'll find explosions. Another well within 1 mile of my home blew out, it was capped, 2nd attempt ended with a non-perfed completion. The first well near my home had employees who enjoyed blowing off dymamite, rattling homes all around. Check your facts Mel.
