I don’t understand the disconnect of the Flower Mound Council. If oil and gas companies don’t have a conflict of interest when sitting on the drilling task force, then NO ONE does!
Last night the Council kicked two members off the drilling task force for a conflict but neither were from the oil and gas company that directly profits from drilling in Flower Mound.
Oil and gas companies should not be allowed on these committees. Technical advice can come from petroleum engineers who do not profit directly from decisions made. DUH!

I agree and am very glad to see you exercise your rights. City councils are the preschool for all this corruption. I am certain that the majority of elected officials basically are a pulse that shows up in office..the Corporations have run the US government exclusively for years..it is just that there are..so, very, very few people that do not see it. The entire mess of everything that is going on the economy, the Wall Street mess, housing, schools..all a big ponsy scheme on the US citizens..for wealth and power people only. The Oil spill is just so apparent..that was a sign to some entity..that they are going to keep that gushing until they got whatever it was that they wanted..like a mobster putting someones head in a vice..same as 'looming depression…no time to think, plan, vote.." a huge entity..held us hostage to get whatever deal struck. The poor saps that get elected and hope for changing or doing something..pretty much get run out..or blackmailed in some fashion..and then they are prisoner to some huge Corporation, Rich countries..we have history of oil deals with, or giant Asian countries that took all of any jobs that took almost a century to develop..now that country holds our IOUs..and have surpassed us in any manufacturing we had ever done.. and the stupid wars..some few rich in the world..just playing a game of chess with us and other innocent citizens in the world.. I am a optimistic person..but we the people are going to have to not fall for the little baits put out to keep all divided..and just every single person..use the voting ballet..and since we don't know who is bought..just vote everyone out..and if it means one term each..that is a step.
Let's hope this doesn't start a "witch hunt" to get the others taken off. If I was a remaining member I would be feeling a little intimidated today. I hope the board won't end up being manipulated by the industry.
Most important, I hope the Flower Mound Town Council actually adopts some of the boards recommendations. Otherwise, this board will be a waste of time.
I am not a native Texan..I have lived here just over two years..I noticed immediately a big problem here in Texas..so over time..I did some research..and well..there is active outstanding EPA violators especially in the North Dallas area ..dating back to 1988-1990..over 10 big companies. .the "hot Texas Summers' that officials push over as norms..'Orange hazard alerts' are not just high temperatures..the oxygen content is low..because the ozone levels are high..and the carbon dioxide is high..not to count particles.and carcinogens..take a look at North Lake..is that or was that a recreational lake? it is an open bed of water..obviously a dump..and if you look on side of S.Beltline..and S.Denton tap..there are not too old home and townhome divisions..not even a half a football field away..that chemical dump evaporates and is in all of our air. It is not only toxic outside..air conditioning does not correct poor air..
The Federal EPA just replied from 3 months ago..and they said in a vague statement that the State is going to START not using air quality averages..and will do 8 hour averages..the bad air numbers that we can get..are cooked numbers..they average them over months or over several years to make it look not flat out deadly. I became suddenly ill with heart irregularities as soon as I moved here..and especially longterm Texans..asthma, heart problems, skin cancer..from the ozone messup..and the list goes on and on..for over 20 years who knows what sort of waste dump is going on..and unless the residents really hear..see information..they are just sitting ducks..and they believe Texas is nice..well, I love the bright sun..very little weather problems..but what good is it if you will need a Mars suit to live here.
I grew up in the Midwest, I moved here from North Virginia..when I go to visit Virginia..as soon as that plane door opens..your lungs open up..you don't realize oxygen loss until you can get a breath of it. Washington DC is a huge metropolitan area..but you can breath..there are no dumps..I would bet that Texas is at least 2-4 times or more..polluted than what people complain about California..
Study up..your site says Flower Mound..well, if I recall the Dallas area EPA..you are in the midst of long term air, ground and water polluters that have been given a pass to dump and pollute with no rules for over 20 years.
I would look into it. Ask the Texas Sierra Club..I still have my documents..I filed an official complaint..with the Federal EPA..it is one of those things..you don't know if everyone thought it was being taken care of..but you know it is not right..and it effects health every day it is allowed..So i am now on step 2..inform anyone or thing that can get the public to at least informed of facts..and the pubic will decide..
Nearly ALL of these local Juntas in Tx are wasting our tax money. Just look at Booger County, of Deafstone County!! All crooked as a dog's hind leg!
I can't speak for the other 11, but I am a remaining member, and I don't feel intimidated. The last "advisory" type board that performed a review WAS physically threatened in a parking lot after a meeting. I can guarantee you that if that happens this time, it will be addressed and fully prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, not to mention a nice news article.
Our tax money is being WASTED in Tx. Lots of shenanagins in the local governments at all levels from the basement of the court house to the top of the dome in Austin–all crooked. Also that 3rd branch of our gov. is also bought off, the so called judicial system!! Don't trust that one any more than the other two (the legislative and the executive)!
