TCEQ’s permit by rule is why industry can put a gas processing plant, like the one in the video below, 100′ behind homes.
Sample comments are available HERE compliments of TRAED
TCEQ is supposed to be in charge of regulating air emissions from natural gas production equipment in the Barnett Shale. So far you can see the great job they’ve been doing. Something has woken the agency from its slumber (could rhyme with EPA) and they’ve decided to update their Permit by Rule program. The new rule can be found here:
A group of local folks in Denton County has organized to make their voices heard on natural gas issues. They formed Texans for Responsible and Accountable Energy Development and they have hired an attorney to present their concerns on the new Permit by Rule to the TCEQ at a public hearing on September 14, 2010 in Austin. Other groups are welcome to partner with TRAED.
TRAED has also created a sample comment form you can download, sign and send to TCEQ. Comments on the proposed rule are due by October 1, 2010. You can learn about the group, download the sample comments or make a donation at their website: http://accountableenergy.blogspot.com/
