UPDATE: For the best reporting to date on this case see: Better reporting on Range Resources water contamination case in Parker County, it is a long but essential read if you are interested in this case.
Allen Stewart P.C. has filed a suit against Range Resources and the home developer on behalf of the Lipskeys whose water was contaminated with benzene, toluene and high levels of methane shortly after Range Resources drilled a gas well 120 feet from the Lipskey water well.
The water well at issue was drilled in 2005 and contained no methane gas for approximately the next five years. In the summer of 2010, Plaintiffs Steven and Shyla Lipsky discovered that their well water contained benzene, toluene, ethane and a large amount of methane gas. Due to the large amount of methane present, the well is no longer usable. The Lipskys now must ship in their water at a significant cost.
David Ritter, a Fort Worth attorney is also representing the Lipskeys. LINK
The Weatherford Courthouse News Service has more information on the case and provides a glimpse into the minds of the psychopaths at Range Resources. Range Resources‘ council implies that the Lipskys are benefiting by having flammable water because they might get their property taxes lowered. Oh! And another big benefit, according to Range Resources, of having flammable water that you can no longer use for anything is you get to make videos.
Well Water Burns in Texas, and Homeowners are Hot, Too
WEATHERFORD, Texas (CN) – A couple says the well water for their $5 million “dream house” west of Fort Worth has become flammable because of natural gas drilling – and the drilling company had the brass to accuse them of trying to profit by it by seeking a lower tax valuation and phonying up “little videos for the people out there.”
Let’s help Range Resources come up with some additional ways the Lipskys have benefitted because Range Resourcesfracked up their water.
- they no longer have to wonder how to entertain guests at cocktail parties
- no more trips to Wal-Mart to buy tiki torches
- it’s faster to singe grass than to mow
- great burglar deterrent
- one hella marshmallow roaster
- all your teens’ friends will hang out at your house now
- think of the savings on matches
