Listen up you fracking insurgents! The real reason the Big Gas Mafia has to wage war on the American public.
My colleague, Aaron Mintze has the inside scoop:
Too Much Natural Gas? Let’s Give it to China!
Yesterday, I attended a hearing of the US Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee. The topic: Markets for Exporting LNG. Apparently, we have come full circle. In the last few years, the proliferation of fracking wells has unleashed a boom of natural gas supply in the United States. So, we’re no longer talking about importing LNG and a number of these facilities are applying to convert to export terminals. The environmental implications surrounding this policy shift are substantial. Clearly, a profitable market for LNG exports means more domestic drilling. With it, greater air pollution, water use, and potentially earthquakes and water contamination.
But since the hearing did not address the effects of increased drilling on communities and the environment, let’s put that issue aside for a moment. The real focus of this hearing was money. Inquiring minds want to know, what will happen to domestic energy prices if we’re shipping our LNG to Asia? The answer: I dunno. The Energy Information Administration will release its study on this topic during the first quarter of next year. It’s pretty clear from the industry enthusiasm that some folks will likely make plenty of money on this gambit. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) expressed his concern that exporting LNG is going to make the natural gas market as volatile as that for oil. He supports a moratorium on new permits to export LNG until we better understand the environmental and economic impacts. MORE…

They are building a plant right now in Louisiana to convert natural gas to liquid natural gas to be able to ship it overseas…they can sell it there for a much higher profit…there is such a glut of it on the US market, they aren’t making enough money….sigh…Even if we conserve energy here, that just gives them more to ship abroad. And conservation efforts will not stop the drilling.

WAJ. Here in the US, we pay the pollution penality and export our precious natural resources overseas to help those people overseas. What we need (if this BS persists) is a big ‘ole hefty export TAX on our exported natural resources. TAX, TAX, TAX ’em til they squeel like a pig passing a peach seed–then back off one click and collect the TAX.

Uggghh, Karma! Now the Chinese will control US politics just as the Americans controlled the politics of the Middle East to keep our supply of oil available. The Chinese will support whatever US candidate is pro drill / pro export to China. They are the super power now! What goes around, comes around. I often hear people say, “The federal govt needs to do this, the federal govt. needs to do that.” I think people need to figure out how they are going to survive in the new world order and not wait around for the federal govt. to rise to the occasion.

Seems like just 5 minutes ago, we had to give tax breaks to American companies to stimulate domestic supply – it was a security issue. We needed to drill for gas in the USA to use in the USA so we would be self sufficient and not have to depend on nations that are hostile towards us. Now, we are exporting our “precious natural resource” to China? That is the way that the world works, and Americans need to realize that we had a good run as the world leader and now it’s China’s turn.

Yep, and they will have their way with us. They will help the Gasholes colonize us so they can get our energy then they will sell us water.

We (American people) were the gasholes for the better part of the last century – we just didn’t know it because it was other countries being exploited and the oil shipped to us. We didn’t see the damage. Now it’s in our own backyard. Now the tables are turned. People think of Big Oil as American companies because we were consuming the most oil. Perhaps now China is the top consumer. Multi-national companies go to where the opportunity is. It is capitalism and it’s the “american way” and it was all fine and good when we were the top dog. C’est la vie.

I know. I saw today that Shell may get fined $1b for their spills in the Niger Delta. Have you ever seen this book? http://www.curseoftheblackgoldbook.com/
We have been living of the blood of other countries for decades. Karma is a bitch, baby.
