Titan starts fracking in Colleyville soon. They are currently getting equipment in place. Mark Schumacher, Titan president, made a bold promise to Colleyville residents about how his company will conduct fracking operations there.
Titan has taken steps to mitigate the process so neighbors won’t hear, see or smell the operation, company President Mark Schumacher said in an e-mail.
- Why didn’t Titan use this technology to protect health and safety of the Flower Mound residents where they recently fracked the Hilliard wells there? The Town of Flower Mound and TCEQ received hundreds of complaints from angry residents during the fracking and flowback process. I spoke with one Flower Mound resident yesterday who said the fumes were so overpowering they could not use their backyard and when they did go outside the fumes produced a chemical taste in their mouths.
- Why didn’t Chesapeake use this technology during their recent fracking and flowback operations in an Arlington neighborhood. Again, there were many complaints during this process. Arlington residents were so upset after experiencing this process, over 400 people showed up at the recent council meeting and the vast majority were speaking against permitting a new Chesapeake well in their neighborhood.
Here is a recipe for mixing up a batch of fracking insurgents. Will Titan be mixing up a new batch in Colleyville?
Update: Regarding FracFocus and Mark Schumacher’s claim that it “lists all they chemicals used” in fracking on FracFocus. Seriously doubt it…

Hmmmm, our unscreened gas lift compressor isn’t of the invisible variety. Neither are the storage tanks, nor trucks. If Titan possesses some type of “stealth” technology, maybe you should inform the armed forces, you know, “for the good of the country.” I’m sure they could make use of it.

Through a PIR request, I received conflicting information about whether those flowback holding tanks are suppose to be open verses closed. Here is what the open records department responded with “A) What can be done to stop venting flowback fluids in open frac tanks? Flowback fluids are not vented into open frac tanks, they are vented into closed frac containers.”
When I asked who was responsible for the PIR response, the city wrote to me… “Under the Public Information Act, we are not required to respond to questions.”
All I friggn’ care about is that those tanks are closed and that violations be given going back to day one!!!!!

In Flower Mound, it took Titan a grand total of 1 day of fracking to violate the town ordinance [Violation of truck operating hours]. As Reagan used to say , “Trust but verify”, but in Titan’s case, I would just plain verify.

Would be interested in an update on this? The operator has made some pretty bold statements & I am wondering how the frac can be pumped without noise or smell?

They are just getting started. I heard it was very loud during the day but I have not heard about odor complaints yet.
