By 2017 the U.S. could be the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas in the world, surpassing leading LNG exporters Qatar and Australia. There is one big “if,” however. America can produce more gas, export a surplus, improve the trade deficit, create jobs, generate taxable profits and reduce its dependence on foreign energy if the marketplace is allowed to work and politics doesn’t get in the way.

This export of LNG from the US—it’s just the latest scam being promoted by the Feds & others. So, it leads me to have less and less trust in our gubment at all levels (and all 3 branches). Also, if you will ever have the potential to be in the “gas patch”, invest only the minimum amount of your money for residential living. Be always prepared to RUN at a moment’s notice when the gas patch moves in on you.
People contact me all the time seeking advice on moving here because of job opportunities. I always tell them that buying property here is a risk. Most read the information and decide it’s not worth the risk.
Sure it’s OK to come here for a job—-BUT spend the MINIMUM money on a residence (such as a trailer or man-kamp). Don’t expect any quality of life residential living and always be prepared to RUN for many reasons, including, contamination or if the job moves, you also gotta RUN.
Also, I forgot to mention the VERY HIGH residential property taxes in Texas. Good there’s no income taxes, but when you’re retired income is not an issue; but, the residential property taxes stay high wherther you are earning money or not.

According to Industry, Texans who do not own mineral rights overpay for their homes and properties. Apparently, it’s a foregone conclusion that natural gas development on your property destroys the value, so the home you paid $300K for isn’t worth but maybe a third of that. And, you should be in love with that home and property, because you won’t be able to sell it anywhere near the original purchase price, so you’ll be there for a long time. Unless, of course, you decide that your kid’s health is more important and you just leave.
You’re right Tim. Mineral rights in Tx run ram-shod over any and all other rights in Tx. If you don’t own 100% of the unleased minerals on your land, you basically don’t own the land. Once leased, you loose your land. Furthermore in Tx., even with 100% of the unleased minerals, you only own the land until someone with more money than you claims they own it, then you loose (oil soaked Tx courts). Other things can get you–Toll Roads, pipelines, utility lines, easements, etc., etc. Even with unleased minerals, the enemy can just “steal” (suck you dry) your minerals–want to spend your life savings to prove you’re right in an oil soaked Tx Court? Good luck!
