Now a days we are being snooped on and spyed on at every turn in the road. What ever you tell any public official (especially cops) will be sent to one of those BIG computers on high to keep track your every move! Many other sources such as GPS on you car and cell phone, etc.

Keep in mind that there is lots of legal precendence that e-mail is NOT privileged communication. It is a message you send to someone that is handled by a third party. So the argument used in the courts is that since you should be aware of the possibility of interception, you should assume it is going to be intercepted.
Case law sucks in this regard, but it is what it is. Best suggestion is to encrypt as best you can.
