WATCH Dr. Theo Colborn read a letter she sent to President Obama about how chemicals, many from the fossil fuel industry, affect our babies.
Thank you Theo!
You will recognize many of the chemicals and compounds she mentions. You can find many of them listed on FracFocus.
EPA responds to scientists’ concerns, initiates new effort for low-dose, hormone-like chemicals
About time, EPA!

This is great news; clearly, and a big step forward for EPA.
But until EPA includes a re-examination of low-dose exposures to CS2, this is all a bad joke in my view. OSHA permits workers to be exposed to 20ppm for 8 hrs. Im OK with those #s; so long as the head of OSHA volunteers to try this for a day
If he or she won’t do it; then I think our President needs to give it a try – in the interest of fairness.
How about the rest of you: 20ppm CS2 for 8 hrs? any takers?

I would buy tickets to watch.

Right on Andy above. Those OSHA numbers are usually at a level when the worker “dies” or becomes incapacitated to do his job.
Andy Mechling says
Yes, thank you
For CS2, NIOSH recommends 1ppm/ 8hrs for workers
OSHA actually adopted this lower standard in 1988 I think; but this was quickly corrected during Newts contract on America.
I think I have a pretty good idea of what 5 or 10 parts per Billion smells and tastes like. I bet alot of you in the gas patch do as well.
My point ia this: These numbers matter. They get used for important stuff. As this relates to CS2. Those figures are fictional. This needs fixing.

Future president, Hillary Clinton, needs to see this, as well, before she gets any deeper misinformed about shale gas.

Dr. Theo Colborn reminds me so much of biologist Rachel Carson, calling us to protect ourselves and unborn children from unnatural chemicals in the environment. Her letter is a powerful call to action.

I am grateful of Dr. Colborn’s hard work. My mission is to help spread awareness, for most people do not consider such a disaster.
