A resolution opposing HB 1496 will be considered at the Denton Council meeting Tuesday, March 19th at 6:30PM. HB 1496 strips cities of the authority to regulate oil & gas activity and gives it to the Texas Railroad Commission.
From a Denton resident:
Please contact the city council and mayor’s office expressing your support for a resolution opposing this H.B. 1496. If passed this bill would take away a muncipalities right’s to pass ordinances or zoning to regulater oil/gas well drilling within their corporate city limits.
Please post this to your Facebook pages so we can get the word out to as many people as possible.
We need a big local push by next Tuesday.
Southlake has already adopted a resolution against this bill.
As crazy as it may seem, it is my understanding that some of the Denton officials are against such a resolution. They need to receive your email and more important your phone calls.
