Homeowners will surely have damage. Frackers will never pay.

Scientists Say Oil Industry Likely Caused Largest Oklahoma Earthquake
From an email:
Epicenter was near Luther OK, about 25 miles northwest of the Prague OK earthquake swarm in 2011, which has been identified by USGS as caused by waste injection. http://geology.gsapubs.org/ content/early/2013/03/26/ G34045.1.abstract
About Sharon Wilson
Sharon Wilson is considered a leading citizen expert on the impacts of shale oil and gas extraction. She is the go-to person whether it’s top EPA officials from D.C., national and international news networks, or residents facing the shock of eminent domain and the devastating environmental effects of natural gas development in their backyards.

Wow, knew they had a few, but not that many!! Hope everyone is safe.
Iran has had a couple of really big ones the last week. Wonder if there are wells near those sites.
Marshall says
Please refer to the interview with the director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey today where he said these earthquakes were certainly not caused by “hydro fracking”.
Informed people who understand science and data understand this concept. This would also apply to earthquakes in Iran, although that comment was surely sarcasm.

Nice try, Mrashall. But those of us to are paying attention know that 90% of all oil and gas wells in the US are fracked and we can connect the dots between the need to dispose of the massive amounts of wastewater created by fracking and, well, FRACKING.
In addition, as the scientists said in this article http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/energy/2013/03/130329-wastewater-injection-likely-caused-quake/ fracking has caused earthquakes in Oklahoma.

Hey Sharon!
According to KOCO in Oklahoma City, the count stands at 39!

Let’s see, we have:
Locations that never saw earthquakes BEFORE fracking, are having extensive and frequent earthquakes AFTER fracking…..
Water that was of good drinking quality BEFORE fracking, suddenly has high levels of dangerous chemicals AFTER fracking…..
If it walks like a duck, and quacks (or quakes?) like a duck, according to the oil and gas industry, and “Marshall”—-it’s a horse! Fracking doesn’t cause earthquakes, it’s just a huge coincidence! You silly non-scientist people!
Sigh.
Andy Mechling says
My understanding is that the best evidence linking earthquakes to UIC wells in OK comes from a a geologist/seismologist who set up instruments in her own house; and used the resulting data to essentially prove that the quakes were caused by nearby injection well activity. Subsequent to her report, the OGS issued their whitewash. What is happening to Science in this country?

At the following URL, I provide a point-by-point response to the Director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey’s “Position Statement on Triggered or Induced Seismicity”. My responses appear in green text below each of his bullet points:

It makes for good reading, trust me.

Nice! Way to catch the weasel phrases and call them on their bullshit.

We have mapped all of these earthquakes above. Very interesting to see this cluster of earthquakes and others in the area. Do a search for “earthquakes”. http://www.drillingmaps.com/oklahoma.html
