I drove to desolate, hideous, Midland, Texas recently for the first time in 20+ years. If you want to motivate people to switch to clean energy and get off fossil fuels, send them to Midland.
The road to Midland goes past (not through) Snyder, Texas and dozens of injection wells conveniently located right on the highway. No wonder the Snyder area has been rocked with earthquakes.
Here is the Event Page for a 2.4M quake on April 30.
Here is the Event Page for a 2.6 quake today.
A couple of the injection wells I saw on my way.

Thank you, Sharon, this is bleak indeed. Sharing.

There was actually another 2.9 earthquake just a few hours later in the proximity. If you look at the past 30 or so earthquakes in the area they all happen around the same point and all around 5 km deep.

Not all of these earthquakes are being caused by fracing alone. if you look at your history was there fracing back 20+ years ago.

Yes we want to believe oil alone is doing this but truth is they have been having these throughout history. So can’t blame oil all alone. yeah they may be helping more come out but doesn’t mean they wouldn’t stop when oil goes away.

Wow, thanks! That shows the earthquake rate has gone up dramatically in recent years since all the injection in Snyder. I drove through Snyder recently and was amazed at all the disposal wells everywhere. No wonder there are having such an increase in earthquakes.
