Indeed they are.
In no particular order…
- Thank you to the FW Weekly’s Peter Gorman for writing about me.
- Thank you Tony Robles for taking such great pictures of me.
- Thank you Jeff Prince for the Rosie photo.
- Thank you to Range Resources for making me a celebrity.
- Thank you to Scott McLain for your help declining Range Resources’ invitation to intimidation.
- Thank you to Earthworks for paying me for something I would do for free and for standing by me.
- Thank you to all the brave people who speak out when they are in harms way.
- Thank you to Don Young, Calvin Tillman and Deborah Rogers for saying nice things about me.
- Thank you to my Southlake friends for the yard sign.
I wonder why industry didn’t weigh in with their perspective.
One teeny correction: Chesapeake’s Michael Keys set the tone of the “PSYOPS Conference” by calling us insurgents but it was Matt Carmichael who urged his peers to download the counter insurgency manual. And, of course, Range Resources’ Pitzarella could not be bested so he threw in the psyops stuff.

The threats, the campaigns to silence the outspoken ones …. why, if everything they are doing is as good and safe as they say it is? Shouldn’t the end result of their actions speak for itself? If one is actually doing good, there would be no need to fight so hard to silence dissenters. Sharon and others are not competition, trying to take them down for profit. No, they are working hard to bring the truth to light, to protect the innocent.

Congrats on a great interview. I tried contacting you on Twitter, as a fellow landowner and mineral rights owner on top of the Barnett Shale. My family is trying to sell my father’s ranch (in Stoneburg, TX), but the sale is being held up by family members who will not budge on selling the mineral rights. They are convinced they will be millionaires on 30-year- wells sometime in the future off mineral leases. The more research I’ve done, the more I don’t know how to make an ethical choice. I can’t control what someone does with the land once it’s bought—the current buyer wants the mineral rights as well as the land, and we’re being told they are paying a great price to get them. I do not live down there, do not want to negotiate with oil and gas to frack the hell out of this land for years to come, etc. I want out.
The land around us is already being fracked. There are already disposal wells in our area. Who knows what environmental damage— I don’t. It’s why I want to get out of the business.
But if my family won’t sell because they are committed to oil and gas drilling, then I need to figure out what kind of leverage I have. What kind of choices, alternatives. It’s a tough call. I always expected to sell this land, make some income for my future (never had much money anyway), and move on. But my family wants to do business with people like EOG Resources, our current leaseholder, who turns out to be one of the worst offenders.
Frustrated. I am so glad I found your blog. I keep sending links to my family members from here but they don’t want to read them. “Mineral rights” sounds much better than “fracking” and they would rather just ignore that word.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

You are in a tough spot. I think it would be worth the expense to consult with an attorney. Most give you an initial consultation without charging.

Also I’ve heard but cannot confirm, that they are trying to hold landowners (mineral owners?) liable for accidents caused by the drillers.

Thank you, TXSharon
As we proceed towards the future, you will only become a more luminous example of a stubborn Texan who stood up and fought for what is right. Your legacy will be written in the history of Texas and you will be a hero to boys and girls forever.
All your detractors will be remembered as villains and varmints

Enjoyed the hardcopy of this Ft Worth Weekly story-not spending as much time on the computer fighting fracking cause now that one maybe two immediate family members have cancer (yep drilling is blocks from our house), I’ve been spending my time learning about caring for chemo patients…we’ve got a tough summer ahead of us with hubby doing radiation…I’ve fought the good fight but our family lost.
TXsharon says
Horrible! So sorry to hear about this. Take care of your family. MOVE away from drilling.

Wouldn’t it be great if the people who cause cancer – the chemical industry, the oil + gas industry, the pharmaceutical industry, etc – were the only ones who got cancer? Why is it that innocent people get cancer and the bloodsucking scumbag vampire parasites profit from it?
That’s why it’s so important what Sharon is doing. We can either stand up to these…people… or let them poison us and our world to death. Nothing will save us but ourselves.
By the way, my dad died of cancer almost 2 years ago so I feel for you. It was a god awful nightmare of a war that lasted 2 years and it hasn’t been easy getting past that time. He was a good man, and it still infuriates me that this happened to him. He deserved a whole lot better. 4 (5?) different chemos, radiation, bone marrow transplant, many CT scans, PET scans, bone marrow apirations… The first chemo partially worked, but everything after that only made things worse. There are so many incompetent uncaring doctors in a really flawed profit-driven system, that I only hope you have found good people to care for your family members and they manage to beat it.
Please look into some holistic healing techniques. For instance, Turmeric has great anti-cancer properties. Put some in everything you cook! Check out http://www.mercola.com and do a search for cancer, and it might open your eyes to a different way of looking at this battle. There’s a lot you can do to help your body and immune system fight off cancer and other disease. Unfortunately the medical system we put our trust in often causes more harm than good. If we could do it all over again I would do things differently.
