This is nothing new–they use acids when they frack–but Reuters wrote about it and it’s good to get on the radar.
INSIGHT-California environmentalists fear frack fight a distraction
By Rory Carroll and Braden Reddall, 5/28/13, Reuters
Acid jobs are not new and neither is using “super-hazardous, poisonous chemicals.”
Hydrofluoric acid melts glass (video). Hydrochloric acid or muriatic acid, is used to melt masonry.
The use of these acids and more were revealed in the Congressional report: CHEMICALS USED IN HYDRAULIC FRACTURING. You should download this report and read it often. I reference it all the time.

The Honest Truth says
Should we just do away with HF then since it is so dangerous? Do you use mouthwash, cleaning products, over the counter and prescription drugs, toothpaste, air conditioning…? According to you, you shouldn’t use any of these products that use HF in the manufacturing process. Do you not use any of these in your life? If you don’t then that is really making a difference and something I could support, but I would never do that because I like clean teeth, a clean house, and air conditioning.

You are way late to this party with your outdated talking points.
Oil and Gas fuels our country says
How are they outdated? It’s not like we’ve done away with any of these products that use this chemical. And you posted this just two days ago, so I’m not really catching your drift on it being outdated.

I have solar panels and an EPA low emissions wood stove. I use all natural products like baking soda and essential oils. I have been making my own cleaning products for years. It’s easy, cheap, effective and works well.
Your rhetoric is what’s old and tired.
Most of us don’t drink naphthalene, petroleum distillates, various acids, diesel and ect. There are a lot of disturbing chemicals used.

It’s true that most of the big-name products in the supermarket like toothpaste, cosmetics, processed foods, pharmaceuticals, etc have nasty toxic chemicals in them. But it’s sort of backwards logic to say that since they are in products, they are ok to use everywhere. Harmful chemicals shouldn’t be in toothpaste or food to begin with! Getting toxic, harmful chemicals out of consumer products is a whole other fight we need to win to improve our health.
There are great natural alternatives as Sharon says.

I am struck with a problem that a borewell which is blocked by a rock . how can i break the rock .
we tired with hammer by hitting from the top but it didnt break. So can you help me with a better solution to disolve the rock.
Will it be possible by any acids??
TXsharon says
I am struck with a problem that I have to live on the land, drink water and breathe air. The acids that dissolve the rock also release many impurities trapped in that rock that is then brought to the surface and, somehow, someway is ending up in our drinking water and on our farmland. It’s making us sick and making our property worthless.
The better solution is to build a windmill or some solar panels.
