They include chemicals in gasoline, diesel and other vehicle exhaust, flame retardants, stain-resistant textiles, paint removers, and disinfection byproducts in drinking water.
Most of the chemicals are petroleum based. Here are a few mentioned:
- Benzene – recently detected in Denton during flowback operations.
- methylene chloride – found at surprisingly high levels in the gas patch.
- styrene – detected in the Hallowich well water
