Denton SOS
Dear Readers,
You will not believe this! After all that the good citizens of Denton, Texas have been through, Denton Municipal Electric (DME) now wants to put a natural gas power plant (or two) in Denton.
Let me show you what a natural gas power plant looks like when a FLIR camera makes the invisible emissions visible.
Follow the leaders
Georgetown, Texas will be the first in the state to go 100% renewable.
Austin is getting more solar with Tesla battery backup. And another article.
According to the Denton Record Chronicle, about 46% of Denton’s electricity is from renewable and by 2019 70% will be from renewables.
Questions: So what’s up with the other 30%? Why did DME fail to present a plan for 100% renewables? Whose idea is it to invest in a failing industry?
I sent an SOS. There are smart people in this world who do not want more investment in dirty, fossil fuels in Denton, Texas.

TPP, HB40, new natural gas powered power plants, port city repurposing for LNG transport, KXL new offensive, more pipelines, more trucks even if they burn LNG, all creating markets for the fossil fuel products of fracking and enhanced oil recovery futures
Already built —manufacturing of trucks, pipelines, storage tanks, refining facilities, frackwell equipment, road graders
I would like to see 5% of all (unemployeds take care) Americans chaining themselves to trees and gates and road blocks and fences and crowding the streets of Washington DC and NYC to lobby against climate change
Prefer agricultural jobs without GMOs or pesticides
The destruction of roads, forests, waterways, land, air, neighborhoods Notice the floodwaters of S. Carolina are considered extremely, dangerously toxic to touch–guess what —go figure ahead of a hurricane flood
I thought Disneyland of the 1950s and Jiminy cricket were supposed to be a beacon of hope for clean jobs and creating a liveable, sustainable, neighborhood
Go figure
Peace,
Do what you can

It seems we are hell-bent on destroying ourselves.

This is a concern of mine as a member now of the Denton P&Z commission, but would like to ask you something separate from this Sharon. The compression tanks (I think that’s what they’re called) that remain on a well site when the drilling is through and the nastiest part of the job has been done, how much a of leak threat do these remain to be? Especially for those within the setback distances we now have here in Denton, which can be as little as 500 ft. for new homes.

There are condensate and produced water tanks on the well sites. Denton does not require vapor recovery units, which is tragic because all the tanks have vents. What is the purpose of a vent?

Notice the pipes sticking up on top of the tanks. Notice the crap coming out of the pipes sticking out of the tanks. Horrible air pollution.
