At the mall

I went to the mall yesterday on my lunch break. I always get my boys a t-shirt from Hot Topic for Christmas. We aren’t into the whole commercializing of Christmas thing and buying a bunch of gifts just to say you did.

I saw lots of men running around the mall looking frantic and clutching bags and packages and I felt bad for them. Gift giving is an important art that men need to learn but most men need a great deal of help. It’s always good to know what kinds of gifts make a person feel loved.

The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman is a great book to help determine what makes you and your loved ones feel loved.

Acts of service are what make some people feel loved. For this type, wrap up a promise to fix the sink or go wash the car.

Quality time with focused attention. Give this type a cozy dinner for two and make the effort to stay focused.

Words of Affirmation. Write a letter or poem and whisper sweet nothings.

Gifts. Listen closely for hints about wants and desires or get thee to Victoria’s Secret.

Physical touch. Don’t forget the road map
