Yesterday I posted about my little weenie dog and a possible snake bite. She’s in the hospital and none too happy about it.
My vet is perplexed. We couldn’t find any puncture wounds and the bruising and swelling is horrendous (much worse than in the photos).
Edit:
Here she is!
Dr. Sterle opened her up and she has a lot or drainage. The vet tech said that she will live and chuckled because she is trying to bit them all. I don’t yet know how much damage there will be or how long she will have to be hospitalized.
Spider and snake venom are similar in that they both start the digestion process by breaking down the tissue. Snake venom causes the capillaries to break which might be why she has a massive hematoma. uck!
Elle is an expensive little girl. Here’s a picture from when she had spinal surgery for 2 ruptured discs. She was suddenly paralyzed from the chest down one day.
