Firefighters battling gas well fire near Keene<
Firefighters are battling a blaze at a gas well injection site between Keene and Cleburne this afternoon.
The fire destroyed a tanker truck and a service vehicle, said Gerald Mohr, Johnson County’s emergency management coordinator.
A man was taken to an area hospital by air ambulance, but Mohr did not know the extent of his injuries.
Mohr said the fire started along U.S. Highway 67 in an open pit at an injection site where hot salt water used to fracture gas wells was being pumped into a containment well. He did not know how the fire started.
The fire is almost under control, he said.
I guess we’re supposed to believe that salt water and clay caught fire.
