I heard it through the grapevine…
The Dallas County Democratic Party Fish Fry was a disaster for Watts who was greeted with booing and hisses while Noriega did a great job and was warmly received.
Tonight was the Johnson, Rayburn Richards Harris County Democratic Party dinner. Noriega did a GREAT job introducing Mayor White. He was the only one introducing speakers who got a standing ovation when he went up to the mic. Mayor White called Rick the next Senator from Texas.
In contrast, Watts who had bought a $10,000 table and was listed in the program as the introducer of Speaker Emmanuel but neither Watts nor anyone from his campaign showed up. Some happy YDs got the seats at his table.
Maybe Watts is pouting… From the Noriega Campaign:
First, let me thank you for your support. With your help to Rick Noriega’s campaign, we raised more money from individual contributors than our primary opponent in the third fundraising quarter. With your continued commitment and support, Rick Noriega will be well on his way to be the next U.S. Senator from Texas.

Correction: One grouchy old coot made a fool of himself booing Watts (for not being pro-choice) while Watts actually gave a better speech than Noriega. Looking around the audience I could see that more people were looking at him than at Noriega and the audience actually quieted down enough to hear him in the back of the room.

Correction???? Not exactly but nice try. =)
I’ve had my story confirmed by multiple sources who were there. Maybe the folks “looking at” Watts, were gaping in aghast that he would be running as a Democrat. ijs.
