Let’s look at the track record for Iowa picking the president in a contested race:
- January 3, 2008 – Barack Obama
- January 19, 2004 – John Kerry
- January 24, 2000 – Al Gore
- February 12, 1996 – Bill Clinton (unopposed)
- February 10, 1992 – Tom Harkin
- February 8, 1988 – Dick Gephardt
- February 20, 1984 – Walter Mondale
- January 21, 1980 – Jimmy Carter
- January 19, 1976 – “Uncommitted”
- January 24, 1972 – “Uncommitted
Looks like that’s a big ZERO for Iowa.
How about New Hampshire?
- January 8, 2008 – Senator Hillary Clinton
- January 27, 2004- Senator John Kerry
- February 1, 2000 – Vice President Al Gore
- February 20, 1996 – President Bill Clinton
- February 18, 1992 – Senator Paul Tsongas
- February 16, 1988 – Governor Michael Dukakis
- February 28, 1984 – Senator Gary Hart
- February 26, 1980 – President Jimmy Carter
- February 24, 1976 – Governor Jimmy Carter
- March 7, 1972 – Senator Edmund Muskie
- March 12, 1968 – President Lyndon B. Johnson
- March 10, 1964 – President Lyndon B. Johnson
- March 8, 1960 – Senator John F. Kennedy
- March 13, 1956 – Senator Estes Kefauver
- March 11, 1952 – Senator Estes Kefauver
They have a little better track record but not much. This race is not nearly over yet so don’t let the corporate embedded media anoint our next president. Think for yourselves.
