Friday, I received a threat in the comments on my blog post, More Barnett Shale Sludge Pond Pollution Pictures.

Your starting to annoy me Sharon….maybe a “cease & desist” order is in store for you and your lovelies……..more likely a restraining order. We do not want to take this to the other level…….like they do in Chicago……..
“Big Oil” is a frequent commenter on this blog. “Big Oil” is not the only alias used by this commenter. Long ago, I identified “Big Oil’s” IP address and labeled it so I can identify the comments and visits no matter what alias is used.
I gave the IP address to some geeky friends who traced it further so that I now can easily find “Big Oil.” All this information was handed over to the authorities who will keep it on file unless I decide to press charges. “Big Oil” should hope that nothing happens to my “lovelies” or to me.
This is all so SILLY and UNNECESSARY! The solution is a simple one:
Chesapeake Energy should fire Ackerman McQueen, the PR firm they have paid millions to for a campaign of propaganda against citizens that has only resulted in causing more suspicion and strife. Then Chesapeake won’t have to be embarrassed by silly breast pump ads.
Chesapeake Energy should also fire Julie Wilson, Vice President of Corporate Development, who is ultimately responsible.
Wilson, whose job description includes overseeing government and community relations, corporate giving, marketing and public relations, said her job is demanding, but it’s generally an upbeat business to be in.
You are wasting millions of your billions in profit on this misguided propaganda campaign when the answer is so damn simple!
Hire me instead and embark on a new campaign of truth where drilling exploration and production is conducted with great care to protect our environment making sure to always put human safety above corporate profit.
Oh! And, while you’re at it, Chesapeake, cut this crap out!
Chesapeake Is Getting Lots of Attention: From Analysts, Investors, the SEC and China
In a post-Enron world, a lack of transparency makes investors nervous. When quarter after quarter, a company dilutes shareholders value with new debt and issuing new shares, it doesn’t matter how great your earnings are. Investors will ask more and more questions. And flying American flags from your rigs while cutting deals with companies that do business with dictatorships is hypocritical at best. And at worst …? Who knows?
About Sharon Wilson
Sharon Wilson is considered a leading citizen expert on the impacts of shale oil and gas extraction. She is the go-to person whether it’s top EPA officials from D.C., national and international news networks, or residents facing the shock of eminent domain and the devastating environmental effects of natural gas development in their backyards.

Ah, yes. The “shut up or we will sue you…or worse” ploy. If they would only do this the right way, the moral way, the way that keeps our water tables safe, we’d be singing their praise! How much more can it cost to be truly responsible in how they handle their drilling operations?
Sharon really has things she’d rather be doing other then pointing out how irresponsible these people are…..clean your act up, folks, so she can go do them!

Check out what Red Oak Gas is doing to Flower Mound. They are legally challenging the denial of variances. Even though the ordinance states it is the Oil & Gas Board right to do so. They made the threat to sue before the denial and then did it. This is not just about gas drilling. It is about any company, developer, etc. being able to come in and put whatever kind of business they want without any restrictions or regulations. Hmm kinda sounds like the gas and oil industry and the Texas Railroad Commission! Hopefully for every town in this country, the local government and boards of Flower Mound will win this one or we are all in trouble.

FM may win but they will be liable for the decreased value of the property. If you buy a piece of property and the property has certain uses that are allowed one day & not allowed the next, you have "inversely" condmned the land. Doesn't matter if it's for oil & gas or for a dog kennel!
Is Julie Wilson related to Sharon Wilson?
