Texas company reports oil spills where Ike hit
DALLAS — A Texas company estimates it lost more than 1,000 barrels of oil in two spills near where Hurricane Ike struck the hardest on the Texas coast.
Denbury Onshore LLC of Plano has filed initial reports with the Texas Railroad Commission saying 900 barrels of oil were spilled in one location and 143 barrels in another.
Both spills occurred in Chambers County, one of the areas most affected by Ike when it slammed the Texas coast with top winds of 110 mph last weekend.

yeah, remember that long conversation happening after katrina and appearance of cover-up of toxics there. i caught a similar story to this one about all the oilfield “sludge” that now covering galveston, etc. visuals really help here. posted a great pic on my site couple days ago of the sheen as seen from the air. but that’s what our friends and neighbors will be picking through soon enough. but for the ‘drill now’ bunch gulf reserves are just a beginning. when they start mining oil shale in colorado and wyoming it will be a nightmare. why isn’t anyone explaining to these true believers that drilling here and now will not affect pump prices until 2030? that’s according to the department of energy. energy independence is about liberation from oil. we need to get the discussion back on track.
