Texas has the highest rate of uninsured families in the nation, but Tom Craddick’s 37 year old daughter isn’t one of those uninsured because she gets insurance provided by taxpayers as a dependent child of an elected official.
Oh WAIT! Craddick also paid her a “salary” of $625,000 from campaign funds.
If that made you go, “WTF?” don’t feel alone. Read about it at Who’s Playin’.
Tom Craddick is Speaker of the House, Texas.

Saw that story in the paper today. Interesting…..paying a “child” a big salary…while claiming that she’s still a dependent.
Me, I always thought paying your dependent kid’s salaries was more along the line of paying them a few bucks for sweeping out the store, or running errands, the kind of things that little kids can handle….$625,000….must be important errands….

I know the facts mean little to you but the taxpayers don’t pay for Christi’s health insurance. She pays for it. The law that aloows this was sponsored by Sen Barrientos and Rep. Glen Maxey. Pete Laney was Speaker when it passed….Ms. Craddick is an attorney. The $625,000. was paid over six years. She could make more money lobbying or working for a law firm that had business before the legislature, but handling her father’s campaign was thought to have no ethics issues attached to it. These are just a few of the facts about this matter you either don'[t know or care to know.

Actually, it is insurance provided by the state at a nice discount, about $350/month. For someone with a pre-existing condition, this is GOLD!
And if she could make more money, she should. The law is pretty clear and Craddick is skirting the law, splitting hairs.
He needs to cut the cord. She needs to get off the tit.

Dear Anonymous,
I have what insurance companies call preexisting conditions. I CAN’T GET INSURANCE AT ALL even though my conditions are VERY MINOR. So, I work at a low paying job just for the health insurance and part of my meager salary pays for Christie’s very affordable policy.
She can’t be a dependant while earning over $100,000 per year. From the comments at the newspapers, it seems most Texans agree with me. CRADDICK IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HARD WORKING TEXANS AND HE NEEDS TO GO!
