I updated this post as it wasn’t accurate in it’s original form. It is the TRRP metal levels that the oilfield is not exempt from. There are other laws and standards that apply to the oilfield. I think that TRRP is Texas enforcement of a federal law called CERCLA. If people are interested, they can google those acronyms. The citizen suit certainly shows a lot of promise. It would require money and be in federal court — but a community could certainly organize in Texas as they have in other parts of the country. I encourage people to research this and we can all learn together.
