Urging Congress Not to Remove Exemption
Of Hydraulic Fracturing From Provisions Of
The Safe Drinking Water Act
That’s right folks! Big Oil is asking Congress to continue letting them be the only industry in America that is allowed to inject known toxic and cancer causing chemicals into our drinking water.
The Cliff Notes version:
Whereas the EPA did a study [that has now been called into question for its VERY POOR science …ahmm… research anecdotal rumors] that says it’s safe, and,
Whereas we’ve been doing this for a really long time anyway, and,
Whereas you can’t prove nuthin’, and,
A whole bunch of Whereas-es saying how safe hydraulic fracturing is and that they will monitor their own selves and Scouts Honor that they will all be really, really, really careful, really and,
Whereas gas is so damn important, what’s a little bit of contaminated water anyway and,
Whereas we won’t make all those record breaking profits,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the IOGCC hereby declares its support for maintaining the exemption of hydraulic fracturing from the provisions of the SDWA and urges Congress of the United States to not pass legislation that removes the exemption for hydraulic fracturing.
