Devon: lobbying against public health and safety.
According to a report filed with the U.S. Senate this week, the Oklahoma City-based energy company spent $715,000 on lobbying in the three-month period ending June 30. The bulk of that money was attributed to lobbying on climate change legislation and other bills relating to energy production. In the first half of 2009, Devon has spent $770,000 on lobbying; the company reported a total of $615,000 in lobbying expenditures in all of 2008.
