Love the title! The article jumps right in by lambasting the TCEQ and the TRC for their “lip service” to ongoing environmental issues in the Breckenridge area.
Salt water from drilling operations and oil might have been allowed to enter the Clear Fork of the Brazos, upstream of Possum Kingdom Lake. Despite calls to the railroad commission and inspections by their personnel, the operations have continued unabated with recurring leaks, high levels of noxious gasses and property damage. This over at least the last two years, and likely longer by one company
Wow! Who knew that you could clean up a saltwater spill by flushing it with water and covering it with hay. Apparently that’s how the Texas Railroad Commission handled it. Oh brother…
Do we need oil and gas? Absolutely. But Texas and Texans also need water and land. The two can co-exist, but it takes responsible companies to ensure the future of the state’s resources and it takes responsible state officials to make sure companies do the right thing.
I think what he means is industry needs to Drill Right in Texas!
