Calvin Tillman is Mayor of DISH, TX, the community where Barnett Shale drilling development has caused “Amazing and very high levels” of toxics found in the ambient air study. The mayor sent out the following email tonight:
FYI we have a resident of DISH who went and had toxicology tests and they found carbon disulfide in his system. He doesn’t live in the typical direct path either; however, I do.
The health effects can be devastating. All current and former residents of DISH, TX, formerly Clark, TX, need to fill out the health survey form ASAP and get it back to Mayor Tillman.
The residents of DISH need our prayers and good thoughts.
UPDATE:
The citizens in DISH need more than our prayers and good thoughts. They need medical help. Many of the residents are very poor–Big Gas never pollutes to this extent in wealthy neighborhoods–and cannot afford the toxicology testing or treatment. We need to find a group of doctors or a medical school to help.
Health effects of Carbon Disulfide include:
Contact can irritate and burn the skin and eyes.
Exposure can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue
High and repeated exposure can affect the heart causing chest pains.
Damage to nerves result from high or repeated exposure.
Personality changes of depression, anxiety and irritability can be caused by repeated exposure.
May cause liver and kidney damage.

Not to mention that the people of Dish and the Mayor need the help of a bus load of lawyers with a trunk full of money to help! Where are the lawyers? Jump forth and let 'em know if you are willing to help!

The people of Dish and Mayor Tillman got our sympathy and prayers. We also pray for a MIRACLE–that the dirty-doers (don't want to use the E word)will somehow get a little bit of conscience and a slice of humanity, both of them emdowed by the Divine but ignored and suppressed by some of the greedy and selfish creatures entrusted with the stewardship (meaning they will have to answer for your actions some day)of the Creation. God help us all and have mercy on the dirty-doers–maybe, it's up to God.

The dirty-doers you speak of come from a long line of murderers…they descend from Cain, where all the monsters that walk the face of the Earth descend. To be able to feel empathy for those around them requires the ability to know and experience GOD. We can't depend upon them to FEEL empathy and act out of the GOODNESS of their hearts, that's why we need laws, regulations and leaders that are willing to step up and enforce proper environmental standards.

They are psychopaths! Psychopaths do not possess the capacity for morals, empathy, guilt or any conscience. they go to church because it suits their purpose not because they care about the message.
There is only one way to deal with pshchopaths: make the consequences for harming humans, wildlife and the environment so severe that it forces them to do the right thing and still you have to watch them every moment.
Texas has a very long way to go in holding these people accountable. We need to vote smarter.

From all the comments, it seems that the kind of lawyers needed are prosecutors (going after lawbreakers and criminals–alleged). The other lawyers are simply watching and waiting until something horrible occurs and injuries inflicted, then they'll be tripping over each other to "help" the people and "pursue justice" (and 30%+ in fees/awardsfor damages). None of the 2,000+ lawyers in Tarrant Co. would help that guy on Carter Ave. fighting to protect his legal and property rights, despite the free publicity and attention from being involved in such a well-known case/situation and possible history-making and precedent-setting potentials (not counting following their profession's mission to "pursue justice" and/or just doing the right thing). Apparently, there is a different interpretation of the Golden Rule–get the gold and if you have the gold you can make/influence the rules which you won't have to follow since you have the gold and pretty much made the rules and control the enforcers of the rules. What a perversion of such a divine concept. The only other recourse for these dirty-doers (layman's term), psychopaths (medical/psych term), and perverts (this man's term) is facing the Ultimate Judge of Man's hearts and actions. They need to remember that they will have no fancy-dressing and clever-talking lawyers to bail them out then. They'll probably be shown all that they've done right before the passing of judgement and punishment. And no long drawn out appeals, dirty-doers, which would be fitting since you ignored the many appeals from people to act responsibly and to "do unto others as you want done unto you".

You got that right about lawyers. Don't get me started on the many shortcommings of lawyers, and the so-called justice system. Never knew it was as bad as it is until recently. In short the whole thing stinks. Like sour gas.
