I blogged last week about the Sue Pope fund suspending funding on natural gas projects and supporting a moratorium. Yesterday, the Denton Record Chronicle published an article about the Fund’s decision:
Fund decides gas use runs counter to goal
Environmental foundation concerned about problems reported in Barnett Shale

Locally, pollution problems with Barnett Shale natural gas development showed up on the radar of more established environmental groups only recently, Schermbeck said.
“Most environmental groups were not paying attention the first couple of years,” he said.
Well, they’re paying attention now and if advertising dollars are any indication, industry must be plenty worried about it. It has been reported that natural gas commercials during the Olympics are “laying it on thick.” It must cost a fortune for all that advertising. I’ll never understand why industry spends all that money trying to greenwash a dirty fuel instead of spending the money on available technology to truly green up natural gas.
