State Rep. Jim Keffer sends message to Barnett Shale Operators:
To contrast my last post about a senator who is actually making changes happen:
State Rep. Jim Keffer, R-Eastland, said the industry’s “lack of communication” and public relations in the Barnett Shale have caused consternation among some North Texas residents and the elected officials who represent them.
Since Rep. Keffer is Chairman of the House Energy Resources Committee, it is extremely important that We the People make certain there is no “lack of communication” between us and him.
Maybe Rep, Keffer needs an invitation to tour Shale Hell on a citizen guided tour instead of a sterile CHK guided tour. He believes the only place drillers need to improve is in their PR.
“natural gas is not a bad thing” and the industry needs to do a better job of communicating with Texans so it isn’t seen as an indomitable force tapping mineral resources at the expense of landowners. “There are a hell of a lot more surface people than mineral people now involved,” he added, “and that is something that the industry has to get their arms around and understand that those people have rights, too, and they need to be talked to.”
I am a mineral owner and a landowner and it’s going to take a lot more than talking to placate me. Industry needs to Drill-Right Texas before I’ll be happy.
I suggest that every single one of you write and call Rep. Keffer today! Tell him we want drillers to Drill-Right Texas!

WAJ–all this WP is doing is to tell the O&G dudes to improve their PR! I'm impressed. Don't waste you time.

He wants to keep his job and those $10,000 bills he is receiving from industry don't come with a voter registration card. If enough people contact him, he will listen.

Mr. Keffer is either stupid or he thinks we are. I would suggest that he either change is stance and come to the party….or call Victor Corrillo and find out what the soon to be FORMER chairman of the Railroad Commission will be dong with his time. He may have some helpful suggestions for the representative from Eastland!

So, in a very short period of time, Mayor Tillman will hold a higher public office than Victor. I'm sorry, that's just damn funny.
