Comment on EPA’s Proposed Research Approach for Studying the Potential
Relationships between Hydraulic Fracturing and Drinking Water Resources
Advisory Board (SAB) Staff Office announces a public face-to-face meeting of the SAB
Environmental Engineering Committee (EEC). The SAB EEC, augmented with other
SAB members, will evaluate and comment on EPA’s proposed approach to study the
potential public health and environmental protection issues that may be associated with
hydraulic fracturing.
DATES: The meeting will be held on April 7, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and
April 8, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon (Eastern Daylight Time).
ADDRESSES: The Committee meeting will be held at the St. Regis Hotel located at
923 16th Street Northwest, Washington, D.C., 20006.

Yes, the recipe for fracking fluid is at the heart of this dispute-and at the heart of the danger that has victimized communities. If companies reveal the formula…liability! So, we require laws and enforcement, which leads to "crippling the industry." Will we protect the industry or the public?
OK please someone enlighten me if fracturing fluid only contains water and sand why the special red and orange slanted tankers. These tankers come on site at the beginning of fracturing and leave at the end of fracturing. I have seen drilling operations pull the water for fracturing from tanks and public water sources so what is in the special tankers?
We complained to the fire marshal Charles Meyers in Denton Tx during the fracturing process at Razyor Ranch and when Mr. Meyers came to the site he told me and one other person "it is only sand and water" stop worrying.
Don't the drilling companies have to disclose an MDS to county officials in case of a spill? I think it is an MDS Mr. Meyers was not quite sure what I meant so I maybe wrong about abbreviation for disclosure information. In any case he knew nothing about a disclosure of any chemical information from Range Resources.
How would emergency responders even know how to address a spill if they do not know what they contain?
It may have sand and water in it—BUT, there is much, much more to it. It can contain all kinds of crap. Can vary from fracker to fracker and from well to well. A lot depends upon special needs. And a lot of the stuff serves a special purpose; but, it is only waste from other chemical and industrial processes! SO, we MUST have the recipe–gotta have that recipe each and every time. Let us know what is in the stuff!
Every truck driver is required to carry a manifest,also must carry a material safety data sheet(MSDS) required by Federal DOT. Also if its hazardous must have placard on tank.
This truck driver info is iteresting, but not very revealing. We need more than that!
Oil & Gas Industry are exempt from the hazardous info. label on the trucks. Been through this.
