the below paragraph is from Corinth's Ordinance, It states never less than 300 feet. XTO wants to go down to 200! First of all 300 is too close to begin with. Corinth residents need to ban together to try to get their ordinance changed for longer setbacks! What is the dynamics of their town council? I would be interested in knowing.
"The distances set out in division (B)(1) above may be reduced at the discretion
of the City Council, but never less than 300 feet from any dwelling or any other building used, or
designed and intended to be used, for human occupancy without the unanimous consent of the
property owners within a radius of 300 feet around the well and the affirmative vote of not less than
three-fourths of all the members of the City Council."

As a rancher in the Allison community of wise county, I wonder how much of the chemicals our cattle is exposed to is transfered to us and what this will do for the beef industry? Aruba just think of everytime you, your family and especially your children eat beef, it could be beef exposed to the chemicals you caused. You are endangering all of the beef industry, not to mention all who eat it. So the next time you bite into that juicy steak, just think, this might be a methane ect. steak!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to point out a couple of facts here: The closest school, Hawk elementary, is over 2000 feet away. The next closest, Guyer High school is over 3000' away.
The closest house in a neighborhood is over 500' away. There are about a dozen homes inside of 600 feet, and each and every one of those homeowners signed an agreement to allow drilling at less than 600 feet.
The closest structure is between 200 feet and 300 feet from the well heads – part of the Lake Sharon Christian Center. The center owns the property the well will be on, and has agreed to allow XTO to drill there.
One other point – they have requested 10 variances related to the well site – 9 to the drilling ordinance and one to the tree preservation ordinance.
