I bet the residents of Double Oaks will roll over and give up. Maybe they will man up and prove me wrong.
My money is on giving up. It is the Texan way.
scubawithdogs says
John Coby were you at the EPA meeting in Fort Worth?
The Texan way appearred to be, do not give up until all hope is lost, and really don't give up even then.
There may be strong oil and gas lobbist here in Texas and plenty of elected official who are willing to be bought and paid for but do not include all Texans in this spineless group of whores.
I looked at Double Oaks blog regarding fighting William's plans and they do not seem to be willing to give up any easier then Flower Mound, Corinth, Southlake, or Colleyville.

Yes, the town of Double Oak sleeps, but there is no rest for the truly wicked.
The SAY NO signs we posted in and around the town have been stolen so there appears to be an effort underfoot to undermine our efforts to inform the public.
But there are families and individuals in Double Oak who oppose this project, although the town does not appear to as a whole.
Bottom line, we need help. But we will not give-up.

I'm here to help so just let me know what you need.

I remember when this site was put in. People were told, "See, we care, look at all these boxcars stacked to help diminish noise, we are good neighbors" Now that they have their leases and got what they wanted, here comes the big middle finger, Williams now says F you Double Oak, we are going to do what we want. Same good neighbor treatment of those in Argyle, Bartonville, Flower Mound, unincorporated areas, etc. Lewisville is next(anyone checked out the compressor station/gas plant that Chesapeake has in the 1100 block of Duncan Lane, Lewisville). Now that everyone is witnessing what will really happen, local groups are springing up everywhere. We must unite & combine efforts, the operators are counting on lots of smaller groups. We have power in numbers. I'm with you Double Oak, protect your city. Jana DeGrand AKA Greenfrog

I love a good fight!
Let's go protest in front of Williams house. Seriously. Take it directly to the man.
John Coby says
I once organized a protest in front of Bob Perry's home. We had about 50 people there. Right in his front yard. We were told by his neighbors that if we got chased off, to use their yards! We got national coverage!!!

I see more and more people standing up and speaking out. The gas and oil industry doesn't know how to handle it. Even their money isn't shutting people up anymore.
Personally, I will never never never give up. I believe there are many others that feel the same.

So John, are you saying we should take a road trip to Oklahoma? We have met locally with some Williams representatives. Their opinion is that these facilities are necessary near where they drill, which means they are storing industrial waste in neighborhoods. The exception to that is the cities that do not allow those types of facilities, so they truck it to the unincorporated areas (where I live). They are pushing for the produced water pipelines buried 36" deep to dump the waste in unincorporated areas. No agency regulates or inspects these pipelines, but the seriously understaffed Railroad Commission becomes involved in the event of a leak or contamination. I don't know about the growth in your area, but crews up here are constantly cutting phone & water lines. Workers are dying when they dig their backhoes into the unmarked gas pipelines. Positive solutions and courses of action are welcomed.

I wish I'd have checked out your site a while ago. We will start a petition drive tomorrow and possibly continue on Sunday. Maybe Sunday's sign will say, Be a Good Stewart of the Earth, and save Double Oak.
Wish us luck!

The Double Oak P&Z meeting regarding this site is scheduled for Tuesday July 27. We need to get as many people there as possible to voice our opposition to this thing. I'm with Tammi. This is a fight to the death.
Tim Ruggiero says
Protesting won't get you far. What Double Oak needs are some strong individuals who aren't afraid to go door to door in neighborhoods and organize people and then take that fight to town council. Corinth was well on it's way to let XTO bulldoze their way through when one single homeowner stood up and said NO, organized her neighbors into a 300+ army and let council know they did not want XTO anywhere near their homes and children.

Double Oak has not been good at communicating with other Barnett Shale communities to reach out for help.
