Find the Epicenter of Oil and Gas Industry’s Political Influence Deep in the Heart of an Unlikely Texas City
By Dave Levinthal
more oil and gas-related federal political donations have originated in Fort Worth 76102 this election cycle than in any other U.S. ZIP code,
$27,230 to Democrats,
This information is important to those of us suffering from the negative impacts of natural gas extraction in the Barnett Shale. Getting what we need most to protect our families’ health and our investment in our property won’t be easy with this stacked deck but remember, even though this looks daunting:
overall $15.7 million in oil and gas-related money to so far this cycle pour into the coffers of federal-level politicians and political committees.
$10,000 bills don’t have voter registration cards.
The oil and gas industry is fighting like never before for free reign to continue their unregulated pollution. Although environmental lobbyists spent a record $22.4 million lobbying for a bill to reduce GHG emissions, Center for Responsive Politics learned that the oil and gas industry spent $175 million lobbying to continue emitting GHGs freely.
This is why now, more than ever, we need educated voters. Stupidity is NOT a virtue and whether it makes you mad or not, Dear Readers, I won’t enable ignorance when my family’s welfare is on the line.

Aren't we all secretly plotting our escape from this pithole called north Texas? Don't get me wrong, I still love my little piece of prairie and I'll keep fighting to save it. But I'm not going down with a ship navigated by Chesapeake, Devon, XTO and Rick Perry.
While plotting where to move, recall the old knight guarding the Holy Grail in, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He looked a desperate Indiana in the eye and said, "Choose wisely."
