Pennsylvania tracks fracking protestors

If you went to see Gasland in Pennsylvania, your name might now be on a watchlist compiled by the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security. The agency has reportedly been tracking people who are protesting drilling for natural gas — or fracking — in the giant Marcellus Shale formation. From the Centre Daily:

According to recently leaked documents, the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security has been tracking anti-gas drilling groups and their meetings — including a public screening of the film “Gasland,” a documentary about the environmental hazards of natural gas drilling.

The office has included the information in its weekly intelligence bulletins sent to law enforcement agencies.

The bulletins are also sent to gas companies drilling in the Marcellus Shale.

State Homeland Security Director James Powers says he’s worried about vandalism. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell says he’s looking into it. Pro Publica posted the state’s intelligence bulletin last week. Now the story’s finally getting some legs.

    Could be–Big O&G has the guvmnt in their saddle bags at all levels, including the FEDS! We, the peasants, have NO HELP at any level!

    Sounds like the old days of the shenanagins prior to the Nixon era–everybody is a dude against the government. I'm beginning to wonder about any help from the FEDS against this onslought of gas drilling and damages to ordinary citizens who live on the land.

    It looks to me like the Department of Homeland Security is just the modern COINTEL Pro program from the late 60's. Securing the homeland is all about rounding up everyone who wants to abolish the Federal Reserve, take on Natural Gas interests, and own a gun while they do it. How come Homeland Security doesn't share intelligence with responsible individuals like they do with responsible Natural Gas companies.
