About Sharon Wilson
Sharon Wilson is considered a leading citizen expert on the impacts of shale oil and gas extraction. She is the go-to person whether it’s top EPA officials from D.C., national and international news networks, or residents facing the shock of eminent domain and the devastating environmental effects of natural gas development in their backyards.

How close is this site to homes? Is there anywhere in Texas other than Argyle that has compressors less than 600 feet from homes?
Don Young says
Wow! What an excellent way to kick off a new public service. Hats off to Calvin, Tim & Co. ShaleTest will be the new gold standard of testing that will further pull back the black curtain industry hides behind.

Isn't that the site that is close to the elementary school where there are a dozen cases of childhood leukemia, and almost a dozen cases of breast/brain cancer?
TXsharon says
No, the site you mention is shown in the video I posted last night.

I pointed out to the Arlington P&Z the gapping holes in protecting our airshed from gas extraction activities on the propose new drilling ordinance. Even with that being said, P&Z chairman Vandergriff made a statement minutes later that all gas drilling voting in the evening session will not be based on air quality concerns because council is already working on steps to protect air quality though the new ordinance. The COMPRESSOR STATION passed unanimously. Too bad they didn't allow Dr Sattler frm UTA to speak.

And as a dear friend in Corinth said the other night,
We the "rats are still running around"
Unfortunately, and no offense to the person who made this statement, because I get it, but our children are not rats.
Anyone else feel like an experiment? I know we do. Thank God for faith.
Do they need to drop dead? Apparently that is what the TCEQ and the AG are waiting for. An immediate death. So extreme that we are hospitalized or dead.
How long does low levels of benzene exposure take before the effects of leukemia and found? A year?
News flash. Benzene exposure takes some time. Like a year (Flower Mound)
So how many kids have to be diagnosed with luekemia before anyone wakes up? Luekemia is not hereditary folks. It is strictly environmental. What in those diagnosed enviroments have changed?
Why are your kids being diagnosed with luekemia?
Here's the deal. They are being diagnosed with luekemia because they have been exposed to low levels of benzene for however many years the drilling started.
The TCEQ is only concerned with "lifetime" exposure. How they are measuring "lifetime" exposure I will never know.
I guess we are truly "the rats".
If they were truly interested in "lifetime" exposure, I guess they would monitor our exposure over a lifetime.
They don't seem too interested in that. Otherwise some of us rats would have a continous air monitor in our backyard.
180 ppbv is acceptable over an hour to the TCEQ. Thus the No Violations Found in their investigations.
1.4 ppbv is the "lifetime" exposure.
Unless they stick with us for a "lifetime" how will they ever know?

I thought about it and prayed
a long time last night, and I have decided that I am done. I am done with the TRC, TCEQ, and EPA.
As they study the effects on our families, we will be the only ones that suffer the consequences and it is unlikely that they will ever find a "correlation". Who will pay for our medical bills later?
I'm sure the attorney's will someday prove the correlation, but I am not willing to wait for that.
We have been treated as a third world country on our home soil. So I think the right thing to do is for our government who continually refuses to protect us to "officially" disown us.
We send our young sons and daughters to fight for the human rights of others, but while they are off fighting, our nation completely ignores the violation of those same rights on our home soil.
The Barnett Shale and every shale needs to be declared a third world country. Perhaps then we will receive the humanitarian aid we need. Fresh water perhaps.
If it is so precious a resource and so relevant to reducing our dependence on foreign oil then just say so and own up. Don't abondon us as an experiment. We live here too. We pay taxes. We love our country. My God, what are you doing??
Buy the homes and let us move away from the industrial site you are creating. Why is this so hard?
Our country apparently needs the resources under our homes. The extraction of those resources and the continuing emissions of that extraction are harmful especially to those of us 300 feet from the operation.
How about you say, if you sit on a shale, we aren't willing as the United States of America to poison you and your children. Your children are our children.
We need the resources though, so we are going to buy your home and let you move elsewhere? We do not treat our fellow citizens as rats. We do not poison the children of our own nation while protecting the children of other nations. Hello????
As I have said, I am done with you TRC, TCEQ, and EPA. You have done nothing to protect my family or the families of others sitting on top of a shale.
You are waiting for us to slowly die and I will not have it.
Disown us once and for all because you are wasting our precious time.
Get on it or get out of the way and let us defend ourselves. You are wasting our children's lives.
Tick Tock.

To Anonymous 4:30–how true. YOu are dead on right! You can't live in a shale producing area and enjoy quality of life living–just can't be done. Same has happened to us in Booger County. Get out and RUN. NOBODY is gonna help you, nobody!
