With Republicans in control of the House of Representatives, powerful Texans such as Rep. Joe L. Barton of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have vowed to check the Environmental Protection Agency‘s efforts to use its existing authority to curtail greenhouse gases.
Under Gov. Rick Perry, Texas has filed seven lawsuits in the last nine months over the EPA’s efforts to curb greenhouse gases. (LM Otero, Associated Press / November 1, 2010)
That’s Rick Perry and his cronies watching out for the interest of Texans. Oh wait!
The EPA said that the scientific evidence surrounding climate change clearly shows that greenhouse gases “threaten the public health and welfare of the American people” and that the pollutants — mainly carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels — should be regulated under the Clean Air Act.

Perry was on NPR the other day pushing his book, 'Fed Up'. The interviewer, Steve Inskeep, briefly asked him about the lawsuit against the EPA. Perry's response was that Texas has set the standard for clean air for other states to follow. He also spoke of the 'improvements' over the last few years that Industry has made, so additional regulations would only serve to kill jobs, taxes, blah blah blah.
As a Conservative, I'm generally not in favir of additional laws, regulations, etc. I would also stick with this IF Texas would actually enforce the current regulations and laws, which they clearly are not and have not been for some time.
I'm not sure where Perry thinks that Texas has been setting the 'standard'- unless of course, his standard is jobs at all costs, increased health care costs and more and more people needing more health care because of it.
I'm FED UP, too. I'm fed up with the bullshit, the stalling, the endless meetings where Bryan Shaw and those other fools, clearly biased and in favor of supporting Industry, refuse to even acknowledge we have a great and growing threat right before us.
What Perry has failed to understand is that the federal EPA is taking over and wanting to do what the State has refused to do. He's right about one thing- Texas does not need the Federal Govt running the State-but if the State fails to act, such as it has, then the Federal Govt MUST intervene on our behalf, and that's what I see the EPA trying to do.

FACT: If we lose this EPA, the Republican party plans to install Bryan Shaw in Dr. Al's job.
Right now, the only thing I care about is keeping this EPA.

I don't see how we are going to win this fight for our democracy with corporations funding the radical Republican take over of our government and the Supreme Court helping with their rulings. The news media being under the control of corporations. I don't think Richard Nixon a republican ,who started the EPA ,would even recognize the Republican party that has moved so far to the right. I think corporate fascist is a better description for their party now. When will the true Republicans take their party back? Or can they?
