I’m totally NOT surprised but WAHOO!
From the 2010 People’s Oil and Gas Summit where I’m getting ready to moderate Panel 1:
Health Impacts from drilling, fracking waste pits and gas production.

Yahoo from Texas. Hope you're enjoying the fall colors and the summit. Grand Prairie announced Thursday afternnon that they are enacting a six month moratorium on new drilling, and Dallas P&Z committee announced putting for a while any discussion about allowing drilling in western Dallas near Grand Prairie. The announcements came hours after the Texas House of Rep.'s Energy Resource Committee held a public hearing in FW City Hall. There were so many officials from various B.S. municipalities attending and voicing their concerns that only a few citizens got to speak due to limited time. Statements from Arlington councilman Mel "drill the whole city" LeBlanc and FW mayor Mike "give us the tools to help our people" Moncrief sounded empty compared to the decisions by G.R. and Dallas that same day. Outgoing TRR commissioner Carillo's statement that they only have 14/fourteen inspectors for the thousands of gas operations in the B.S. area brought some visual and auditory reactions from those in attendance.

Grand Prairie, TX announced the upcoming "Special Council Meeting" vote for the 6-Month Moratorium on the city's Web site Monday afternoon, November 15, 2010. So, the decision had already been made long before yesterday. "Once you know, you can't not know." ~ Mayor Calvin Tillman
Not sure how much longer it will take Mayor Moncrief and Mayor Cluck to know what everyone else knows. Blaming the state for something they have the power to do…surely these men can figure this out.

B.S. municipalities? Puhleez! These mayors, with the exception of Northlake and Fort Worth, were the only ones with common sense to put public health first and foremost before the almight dollar. They were definitely outnumbered. Give 'em a break.

Anonymous, we'd like to give elected officials like the mayors of Northlake & FW–where the heavy handed mayor earns at least over half a million dollars a year from his various business dealings with O&G companies and his predecessor representing CHK in city policies (no ethical issues there!) "a break " if they would make decisions that give us and our families a break from the environmental and moral pollutions that have accompanied this heavy industrial operation/industry inside our neighborhoods and
communities.
Arlington's mayor who is a medical doctor ought to follow the Hypocratic oath of "First do no harm" in his leadership role relative to drilling inside his very densely populated city. We already accept that the others, like FW's gasbagger, follow the hypocritical oath.
