Twelve-hour shifts, exposure to the elements in hostile environments, low pay, high risk of injury and isolation from loved ones for weeks at a time are just some of the factors that combine to make Roustabout the worst job of 2011.
As the key providers of maintenance for oil rigs and pipelines, Roustabouts routinely perform backbreaking labor at all hours of the day and night in conditions that can range from arctic winters to desert summers to ocean storms. They even face the threat of attack in unstable parts of the world. Braving these inhospitable surroundings, Roustabouts work on the front lines, getting hands-on with dangerous drilling equipment and risking serious injury or worse – as last year’s explosion at the Deepwater Horizon facility in the Gulf of Mexico illustrates.

When is the government stepping up and protect rights of workers and consumers ? Starting to wonder if slavery never got abolished.
American workers start to work more and more to make ends meet. Is that part of the American Dream ? I'm starting to wonder if there ever was such a thing as American Dream.

Here's my huuuuge question. Why is the EPA on the ball in the Beaufort Sea with requiring air permits while we chooooke on it in the gas patch? Why are they only going after petroleum drilling in Alaska but not natural gas drilling in DFW? How many people bought houses in the arctic sea to get sick and die off those emissions? This is truly insane.
"They also claim drilling will stress marine mammals already being harmed by climate warming and diminishing sea ice, including polar bears, ice-dependent seals and walrus."
I'm getting a little sick of all of the polar bear protectionism.
