I received this email in my inbox this morning.
It turns out, the email is from Larry Hoover, Trophy Club Council Member. (I have removed his email address and phone numbers.)

It is sad that a few noise makers like you can distort reality so much. I think we should turn off your gas so you have to cook with kerosene and heat your 8000 square foot house with wood. You really show the rest of us what you think of everyone but yourself when you drive a Cadillac Escalde to these meetings and use little kids to hold your signs. Reminds me of the terrorists in the Middle East.
Thanks,
Larry Hoover

I think it’s interesting that someone who is charged with protecting the public he serves can completely ignore reality and reply with such thoughtlessness considering the documented suffering of those who live with shale extraction and production. Is he really comparing people like Tim Ruggiero, Calvin Tillman, Lisa Parr, the entire Argyle – Bartonville Communities Alliance, Flower Mound, me and many others to terrorists because we want drilling to be done in a more responsible manner?
This man, Dear Readers, is a radical. The mothers in Argyle who deal with children sick from drilling fumes and request some control measures for those toxic emissions, are not terrorists, or even radicals! People who suggest that we should shut up and, as one commenter said, “Take our cancers like a true patriot,” are the radicals.
How dare you, Councilman Hoover?

Well Well Well. It appears you are more interested in who I am than facts. This was sent from my personal email as a local resident who is embarrassed by your antics. I make no apologies. Rather than send out anonymous unsigned emails to others trying to find out who I am, just call me. I will tell you in spades.
Thanks,
Larry Hoover

That;’s an EPIC FAIL on following your tag line, sir. “Always make it a win-win situation” and “Finesse…” Words may be cheap but your words should cost you your political career.

He is giving the oil and gas industry a bad name. Even those whose jobs rely on fossil fuels expect clean air and water for their families.

He was absolutely awful on the phone this morning. Have to admit that I'm glad http://www.southlakedrillingfacts.com is anonymous. Just a bully I'm sure, but you never know these days….
Thank you Sharon for not being intimidated by these guys and speaking up for us!

You should see what I see when I drive down Bobcat Lane off of 377.
Huge condensation tanks, I believe, 6 of them. A gigantor compressor, and frac trucks, lots of frac trucks emptying those condensation tanks spewing liquid all over like an open fire hydrant.
And all those new homes, I believe when you look over the brick fence you'll see more gas production.
And pipeline, all through that beautiful new school.
These are words of someone who is scared they made a mistake.

If government officials keep egging me on to become a homegrown terrorist, I may just have to comply someday. [statement intended to be ironic and should in no way be used by federal prosecutors in the future]

Regarding yesterday's email calling for a reprimand or removal of councilman Hoover, he has defended himself by informing me that he has not voted on any gas wells in Trophy Club and so I retract my statement as I assumed he'd been in office rubberstamping drillsites like our council does here in Arlington.
There was also some confusion as to my identity from another person that called him previously over the phone and that is also cleared up.
While a partial government shut down is being decided as I write this, and as the drillsite at Davis and Division here in Arlington wafts white clouds of unknown toxins today to the empty field to the north (well maybe a few cows and a retirement center), I can only think about those drill sites that do not NOT not have the benefit of acreage for wind speed and dispersion to break up the BTEX and the other emissions (Oakwood/Division, Bowen/Division, and Collins/Division).
I pray that every council person making decisions about setback and emission controls in their towns will take notice that time is not on our side.
Everyday folks, animals, produce and our water is being risked by an industry whose laws have not kept up with the explosive growth of drilling in our urban and rural areas.
Again I'll say with the help of Mr. Hofmeister (former Shell Oil Executive) that setback distance is needed for the dispersion and windspeed to reduce fence line industrial effulents.

Well, I've been called everything else in my fight to defend my family and yours…I suppose 'terrorist' wasn't far behind.
