voluntary disclosure of drunkenness.
Pretty dumb, huh? Well, pay attention, people, because you are playing right into industry’s web of lies.
Any so-called disclosure that is voluntary is NOT really disclosure. It’s a way to fool the public into thinking they are safe and that the industry is being transparent without them actually being transparent.
FracFocus is a voluntary chemical registry. Industry can choose how much or how little they want to disclose. Or, they can choose to disclose nothing at all.
HB 3328 is a bill pending in our Texas legislature right now. This is NOT a disclosure bill. The misinformation on this bill is spreading like crazy and environmental groups are the main offenders! Look, any time you see this…
“Trade secret” means any confidential formula, pattern, process, device, information, or compilation of information that is used in a person ’s business and that gives the person an opportunity to obtain an advantage over competitors that
do not know or use it.
…that means they only have to tell you want they want you to know.
This is WORSE than no disclosure at all!
This is industry’s way to try and avoid a law that forces them to disclose their dirty chemicals. Please don’t be fooled.

"We use a lot of household products that can be found under your sink…"
Would you eat, drink or purposely inhale:
Simple Green
Lye
Silica
"Hey Party's at my house, I'm gonna bust out the silica dust from the new purse I bought and we can do lines of Lye and Silica and then, let's chase that down with some Simple Green or Windex…"

The "we're not poisoning you, we're just using the same products you find at Wal*Mart," is the same standard of ridiculous propaganda the O&G industry has used forever.
I've heard people say that this Disclosure Bill 3328 is better than nothing.
Better than nothing? It "is" nothing with this 'trade secret" language. They seem to be able to convince people of their good intentions every step of the way. I know they're "nice" people when talking to environmental groups and neighborhood associations in a meeting room. Of course they can be so nice, friendly, concerned, accommodating.
But seriously!!! Why are we all still so gullible when it comes to this industry? They have done nothing but show how ruthless they are about getting this done!!
