The defame game is sort of like spin the bottle only, no matter how you spin it, the bottle always lands on the same player. In this case, it’s Calvin’s turn to spin the bottle. Wonder who’s next.

That’s just one technique that the GASHOLES use. The GASHOLES are a vicious bunch, and many times they use the TRRC in their efforts. Know it well.

One of the interesting things about this game is that it takes very little to qualify as a contestant. All one has to do is to simply pose a question about natural gas development, or simply make a statement that’s contrary to the propaganda or spin. Such as when a certain former mayor notices that when a certain general counsel sells a boatload of his company’s stock just days before the announcement of a major lawsuit. Or when a certain Parker County homeowner dares to involve the EPA in examining the natural gas operations near his home. That’s when the war of words starts, followed shortly by threats and intimidation tactics by operators. What’s laughable is the fact the operators, through their in house attorneys as well as hired guns and PR departments with their multi-million dollar budgets start publicly crying how THEY are the ones being ‘defamed’.
So, Operators, there’s a very simple and easy way for you to ‘win’ this game: Drill Better, Suck Less. Instead of talking about the so-called best technology being available, try actually using it. Yes, that means green completions, leak proof valves, vapor recovery units, and certainly having respect for homeowners.
Stop getting exemptions from every rule, regulation and ordinance in place put there to protect us from your bad acts. After all, what’s the point of even having a law if you’re just going to work to get an exemption from it? And, more often than not, get your exemption?
Try admitting when you’re wrong or make a mistake. Enough with the damn non-disclosure agreements and SLAPP suits. Stop arguing whether or not it’s ‘feasible’ to do the right thing.
For example, if the city or town has 14 ordinances that are only about oil and gas development and you have to get a variance on every one of them in order to drill, then that’s not the place to drill.
And enough witht he TV commercials and full page newspaper ads and billboards and social media sites that’s all about job creation, achieving independence from foreign oil, patriotism, Mom and Apple Pie and waving the flag. That’s just a smoke screen, and everyone knows it. Enough already. Instead, maybe spend those millions of dollars on the technology you claim that’s available, but only using on the sites that you take politicians, candidates and others that you will have believe that’s the way you ‘do it’ on all of your sites.
Lastly, please know that every contestant in this game really doesn’t want to be a contestant. You’ve forced them into it.
