Yeah, unbelievably, after all the hell every other areas has experienced because of fracking, it’s still under consideration in Dallas.
There are two important hearings coming up.
Hearing One: Support a Strong Drilling Ordinance fact sheet.
Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 1:30 PM
Dallas City Council Chambers
The Dallas City Plan Commission is holding a public hearing on the new proposed gas drilling ordinance they’ve been writing this summer. Among the most important issues they are considering: how far away drilling should be from our homes, schools and businesses, and whether we should allow drilling on city-owned park land. We have essentially this one chance to come express your concerns. We want them to stick to their earlier decision to enforce 1,500 foot setbacks and we want them to keep drilling off of city-owned park land. Here are the CPC email addresses:

Plan Commission must craft tough drilling ordinance
Citizens should pay close attention to the Plan Commission’s work because it will be the basis of what the City Council debates and votes on in the fall. This is a critical opportunity for the Plan Commission to carve out a policy that allows drilling but does not compromise residents’ safety or quality of life.
Hearing Two:
Wednesday, August 28, 2012 (time to be determined)
City Council Chambers
Mayor Rawlings and the City Council will be voting on the three Trinity East drilling sites that were denied twice by the City Plan Commission. While we don’t believe they’ll get the super-majority vote they need to overturn the previous decision, at this point we can take nothing for granted. Council members are under intense pressure to grant the drilling permits. For the Mayor and Council, the idea is to ask them to vote against the Trinity East permits on the 28th. This should be a no-brainer, but we still need everyone to weigh in. They need to hear from you!
